ROCKAWAY, N.J. – The ninth-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team won two of three matches on the final day of the Caldwell Cougar Classic to finish in third place.
The Knights (7-5) won their final traditional team match over host Caldwell and entered the Baker playoff rounds as the third seed. FDU, however, suffered a first-round loss to Monmouth before defeating NEC rival Sacred Heart in the third-place match to end the day.
Junior
Amanda Chrzanowski was named the Tournament MVP, finishing with the highest individual scoring average at 206.2 in six games. Junior
Aimee Sherman was also named to the All-Tournament Team, ranking third in scoring average with a 194.0 across six games. Junior
Jenna Henderson (193.0) also placed inside the top-10 in sixth place among individuals.
"Overall it was a tremendously positive weekend," head coach
Mike LoPresti said. "Our squad accomplished a lot, and again showed some resiliency by bouncing back to win our last match today after losing disappointingly in the first round of the playoffs."
FDU took care of business against host Caldwell to start the day, defeating the Cougars 956-888 in the last traditional match. Chrzanowski led the way with a 204, and freshman
Ashley Sham played a big role with a 197. Henderson and senior
Brianna MacLeod each added scores of 187, and Sherman rounded out the Knight scorecard with a 181.
Moving on to the Baker playoff best four-of-seven bracket, the Knights first faced no. 25 Monmouth for a chance to go to the championship final. Monmouth took the first game, 197-190, but the Knights evened the score at 1-1 with a 162-131 win in the second game.
The Burgundy and Blue continued to gain ground with wins in the third (160-149) and fourth (212-183) games to go up 3-1, but the Hawks rallied to take the next two games and tie the match at 3-3. Monmouth then wrapped up the match with a 197-179 win in the final game. Sham, Henderson, MacLeod, Chrzanowski and Sherman started the match for FDU.
The Knights mixed up the lineup for their third-place match with the no. 12 Pioneers, with senior
Samantha Hart and freshman
Lauren Marks starting in place of Sherman and Sham. FDU won each of the first three games, 181-174, 226-189 and 173-172, to go up in the match 3-0. Sacred Heart stayed alive by winning the fourth game, but the Knights put the match to bed with a 162-159 win in the fifth game. Freshman

Lanasia Neal subbed into the match to help the Knights seal the victory.
Across the entire three-day tournament, the Knights averaged 185.0 pins per game, the second-highest average in the 11-team field. FDU totaled 12,394 pins in 67 games and won seven of 12 matches overall.
FDU next competes in the two-day NEC Fall Meet in Mechanicsburg, Pa., starting Saturday, November 9, and continuing through Sunday, November 10.
