SOMERSET, N.J. -- One of the most decorated student-athletes to ever don the Burgundy and Blue, Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowler Danielle McEwan will be inducted into the ninth induction class of the Northeast Conference Hall of Fame as announced by the conference on Thursday afternoon.
McEwan earns the first-ballot nod with a resume which is full of tremendous accolades including a 2010 NCAA Championship, four NCAA Tournament appearances, two National Ten-Pin Coaches Association (NTCA) Bowler of the Year Awards and an NCAA MVP to her credit.
In its release, the NEC called McEwan its most decorated student-athlete in th conference's 38-year history.
"It's difficult to describe the amount of pride we have for Danielle McEwan, her uncountable accomplishments, and all of her success," said FDU bowling head coach,
Mike LoPresti. "She is the most decorated student-athlete to ever suit up as a FDU Knight. Quite frankly, anything that she achieves isn't a suprise. It's because Danielle has an unparalleled passion to compete and an unmatched commitment to excellence. As a member of our program, she elevated our team to a different level. Now, everyone I recruit and all of our current players aspire to be like her and want to learn to play like her. Danielle McEwan's selection to the NEC Hall of Fame is certainly a well deserved honor. I challenge anyone to find a better role model."
McEwan, who has gone on to enjoy a groundbreaking professional career on the Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) tour, dominated across her four seasons as an NEC student-athlete from 2009-13. The Stony Point, N.Y. native racked up the following list of accolades: three-time NTCA All-American First Team (2011, 2012, 2013), three-time NTCA Academic All-American, NTCA All-Tournament Team (2010), three-time NEC Bowler of the Year (2011-13), NEC Rookie of the Year (2010), four-time All-NEC First Team.
In addition to her awards, McEwan concluded her career as the Knights' record holder in career average at 207.07 across 235 games (48,662 total pinfall) and the single-season record in 2012-13 with a 215.61 average.
Since the rebirth of the PWBA Tour in 2015, McEwan has won four titles, including a major at the 2015 Smithfield PWBA Tour Championship. She is also a two-time winner of the World Bowling Tour (WBT) Women's Finals.
McEwan is the second Knight in the last three years to earn the NEC Hall of Fame nod, joining track and field alum, Sharline White (1993-96), who was inducted in the 2017 class.
