DENVER, Colo – The Fairleigh Dickinson volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-13) to Idaho State in their first of two matches on Saturday.
Sophomore and Colorado native,
Erin Singer paced the Knights (0-8) with nine kills in the match, while junior
Erika Sullivan added eight.
The Bengals (5-5) featured three players with double-digit kills including Nicole Lee, who posted a match-high 14.
In the opening set, the Bengals broke free from the Knights with an early 8-2 spurt. Lee provided the firepower logging three straight kills over that span. With the comfortable lead in hand, the Bengals kept the Knights at bay and held on for the seven-point, first-set victory.
The second set saw the Bengals score the first five points before opening up a 12-4 lead. Leading 18-12, Mahala Bradburn served the final seven tallies of the set to close out the win.

Jaelyn Young helped the Knights capture a 5-3 edge in the final set, however, the lead was short-lived as the Bengals responded with seven straight points to take control. Leading 10-5, the Bengals would not relinquish their lead as they rolled to the finish for the 25-13 win.
The Knights posted a .250 team attack percentage in the opening set but the Bengals averaged .418 for the match and out-hit the Knights 54 to 22 in total kills. The Burgundy and Blue won the battle of the blocks by finishing with six compared to just one by the Bengals.
Next up for the Knights is a match against New Jersey foe, Saint Peter's at 6:00 p.m. (EST). The Peacocks (2-9) dropped their opening match of the weekend on Friday to Idaho State and are taking on the host Denver this afternoon.
