TEANECK, N.J. – Fresh off a victory in its previous match, the Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team returns home to face the Hofstra Pride at University Stadium Thursday night at 7 p.m.
The game will be streamed live on NEC Front Row, and fans can also follow along with live stats at fduknights.com.
ENTERING THE KNIGHT
The Knights (2-4) return to Teaneck after five consecutive matches away from University Stadium. The road swing started with four straight losses, but FDU came away with a 2-1 victory over Kent State in its final match of the UNCW Soccer Invitational to conclude its trip.
ELMA'S HEROICS
Senior
Elma Kolenovic played a big role in the Knights' victory on Sunday. Along with assisting sophomore
Viktorija Miseljic's game-tying score, she netted the game-winning goal in the 81st minute, her first goal of the season. Kolenovic one-touched a ball crossed in front of the net by freshman
Lea Egner, and the shot got past the Golden Flash keeper for the go-ahead tally. The score was Kolenovic's fifth game-winning goal of her career.
SCOUTING HOFSTRA
The Pride (3-2) started its season by winning three of four matches before falling to sixth-ranked Virginia 5-1 in its most recent game. Six different players have scored a goal for Hofstra this season, with senior Jenn Buoncore leading the way with two goals and two assists for a team-high six points. Redshirt seniors Jenna Borresen and Ashley Wilson have split time in goal for the Pride, with Borresen starting the first four matches but Wilson playing more minutes (291). Wilson has allowed seven goals and made 11 saves, while Borresen has only allowed one goal in 180 minutes. Hofstra, who made the NCAA Tournament after winning the Colonial Athletic Association with a 15-4-2 record last season, was picked as the CAA preseason favorite heading into 2018.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Knights play both of their next two games at University Stadium, and playing at home has proven to be an advantage. Under coach
Eric Teepe, the Knights have a 28-6-3 record, including a 6-0-2 mark since their last defeat at home on Sept. 3, 2017. After Sunday's home match against Army, FDU is scheduled for four more home matches during Northeast Conference play – Sept. 30 vs. Robert Morris, Oct. 12 vs. LIU Brooklyn, Oct. 20 vs. Saint Francis U and Oct. 28 vs. Sacred Heart.
RECORD WATCH
With her goal and assist Sunday, Kolenovic added to her career totals and is now one point shy of reaching 50 career points. Her next goal or assist would make her the fifth Knight ever to accrue 50 points. The senior has 19 career goals, one shy of third place in FDU history, to go with 11 assists (tied for sixth in FDU history).
