LAST TIME OUT
The Knights held a 2-0 lead but saw Lafayette score 10 unanswered runs in Tuesday's home opener at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. Senior right fielder
Jason Fatzinger continued his outstanding start to the season with another multi-hit game -- his third in four outings -- finishing 2-for-4 with a run scored and a double. Freshman right-hander Austin Crebs started for the Knights and went 3.2 innings allowing seven hits, while totaling three strikeouts on the afternoon.
FATZINGER ON FIRE
Fatzinger's 2018 campaign is off to a splendid start as the senior right fielder enters the weekend batting .500 with a pair of home runs and three RBIs on the season. The FDU right fielder has three multi-hit games to his credit thus far.
EXPERIENCE IS KEY
Across the first four games of the campaign, head coach
Gary Puccio has had the opportunity to use 11 different pitchers. Seven of those 11 arms are freshmen as Puccio looks to get his young staff as much experience as possible prior to Northeast Conference action.
SCOUTING DELAWARE STATE
After winning two of their first four, the Hornets have now dropped seven straight games. The team was selected as the conference favorite in the MEAC Northern Division. The Hornets collected 13 of 18 first place votes and 67 total points in the poll. So far, the Hornets have been led by the play of their freshman third baseman Jared Gillis. Gillis is hitting .351 with seven RBIs and six runs on the season. Senior right-hander Lane DeLeon spearheaded the pitching staff for DSU and boasts a 2.12 ERA and 14 strikeouts across his 17 innings of work this season.
