DAY ONEÂ
The eighth-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson bowling team opened the Northeast Conference Spring Meet with a flawless 4-0 performance on Friday.
In the second of three conference events, the Knights topped Sacred Heart, LIU Brooklyn, Saint Francis U and St. Francis Brooklyn to begin their three-day weekend.
The meet began with a thrilling two-pin win over No. 9 Sacred Heart. The teams just one spot apart in the NCAA ranks, showed their proximity in the tightly-contested match. Reigning NEC Rookie of the Week
Deborah Epps paved the way for the Knights in the victory by rolling a team-best 232. Classmate
Amanda Chrzanowski followed Epps' lead by posting a 201 as the Knights edged the Pioneers.
In their second tilt of the day, the Knights provided head coach
Mike LoPresti breathing room with a 50-pin victory over LIU Brooklyn. Again it was a freshman delivering for the Knights as
Jenna Henderson topped the team's scorecard with a 214 and was the lone bowler to eclipse the 200-pin mark in the win.
The Knights kept rolling as they posted the meet's high score of the day in their third match by knocking down 1,011 pins in a 1,011-980 win against Saint Francis U. Senior standout
Karsyn Lukosius demonstrated her dominance by amassing a 242 to lead three Knights to post 200+ pinfalls. Henderson continued her momentum with a 224, while junior
Amy Caruso posted a 218 score.
To close out the 4-0 Friday, Fairleigh Dickinson rolled past St. Francis Brooklyn 987-834. Again it was Lukosius who set the tone for the Knights by matching her 242 for the second straight outing. Chrzanowski finished second on the team with a 210 as the Knights closed out the opening day with the comfortable victory.
Saturday's action continues with traditional action before the meet switches over to Baker games.
