Opening Tip
  • The Knights are coming off of a four-point loss at home to Lafayette on Sunday afternoon, where they held a 10-point, second-half lead before the Leopards mounted the game-winning comeback.
  • Darnell Edge has been red-hot from the field over the last two games and earned NEC Player of the Week honors on Monday. The senior captain is averaging 22.5 points per game on 53.6% FG and 63.6% 3-FG over the last two. He scored a career-high 28 points in Wednesday's win at Princeton and has played all 40 minutes in each of the team's last two games. Edge is just 55 points away from 1,000 for his career.
  • Xzavier Malone-Key has scored 19 points and made five 3-pointers in each of the Knights' last two games.

The Coaches
  • Head Coach Greg Herenda is in his sixth season at the helm of the Knights. Last season, the Knights enjoyed their third consecutive .500 or better season in NEC play as Herenda led the team to a 9-9 conference mark. Under Herenda, the Knights have qualified for the NEC Tournament in four of his five seasons.
  • Ed Cooley is in his eighth season as the head coach of the Friars. In seven seasons at Providence College, Cooley has posted a 144-94 mark (.608). In 12 seasons as a head coach, Cooley has a 236-163 (.591) record. When Cooley was hired in 2011, the Friars had finished under .500 in six of the 10 previous seasons and had been to just one NCAA Tournament (2004) in that 10-year span. Since his hiring, Cooley has led the Friars to six consecutive post-season tournament berths, including a school-record five straight NCAA Tournament appearances (2014-18), and he guided the team to the 2014 BIG EAST title.

The Teams
  • FDU saw their three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday afternoon when they fell 80-76 to Lafayette. The Knights led for most of the game and held a 12-point lead in the first half before surrendering a 10-point lead with 10 minutes to go. The Leopards caught fire from behind the arc and eventually overtook FDU. The Knights will take on Holy Cross next before returning home for Army and NJIT. Herenda is 1-4 all-time against the BIG EAST with a win in 2013 at Seton Hall
  • The Friars are coming off of an 11-point victory over Iona last time out.  Alpha Diallo led the team, finishing with 23 points, nine rebounds and two assists.  Freshman AJ Reeves notched his second 20-point effort of the season as he shot 8-12 from field, including 4-7 from three, to score 20 points. Next up for PC is a match with in-state rival Rhode Island on Saturday, December 1 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

Knights Last Time Out
The Knights fell to Lafayette 80-76 at the Rothman Center on Sunday afternoon. The Leopards (2-3) used a hot-shooting second half to overcome a seven-point halftime deficit and overtake the Knights (3-2).

Four Knights scored in double figures led by sophomore guard Xzavier Malone-Key, who finished with 19 points for the second straight outing and added three rebounds and three assists. Senior guard Darnell Edge scored 17 points and made 3-of-5 from behind the arc, while senior forward Mike Holloway Jr. tallied a season-high 15 points to go along with four rebounds in the loss.

Sophomore guard Alex Petrie came off the bench to lead the Leopards with 26 points on 9-of-15 from the field and added four rebounds and four assists.

The Knights would get within two in the final minutes after a dunk by Holloway and a 3-pointer by Jahlil Jenkins but the Leopards took care of business at the free throw line to seal the victory.

The Leopards followed a 1-for-11 (9.1%) first-half shooting performance from three-point range with a 7-for-12 (58.3%) effort in the second half as they took the lead and did not relinquish it.

Herenda's Thoughts
"When push came to shove, Lafayette made more plays that win games than we did. People talk about offensive flow all the time but tonight we never got into a defensive rhythm against a very good offensive team. When you make 12 threes and shoot close to 50 percent at home you have a very good chance of winning. Again, we had four players in double figures, we took care of the ball but just didn't finish around the basket well enough to extend our leads tonight."

Next Up
The Knights travel to Worcester, Massachusetts to square off with Holy Cross this Saturday, December 1 at 1:05 p.m.
