Last season in Hackensack, the Knights nearly overcame a 22-point halftime deficit and trailed by three points in the final minute -- but ultimately could not overtake the defending Ivy League Champions, who shot 66 percent from the field in the game. After a cold-shooting first half, which saw the Knights convert 8-of-22 (36.4 percent) overall and miss all nine of their three-point attempts, the home team responded with a 58.8 percent (20-of-34) effort in the second stanza. Jenkins finished with 16 points, five steals three rebounds and three assists to lead the Knights in the loss. For Princeton, Devin Cannady played all 40 minutes and topped the Tigers' scoresheet with 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while classmate Myles Stephens totaled 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting. The duo helped the Tigers to a 66 percent shooting performance in the game.
The Coaches
- Head Coach Greg Herenda is in his sixth season at the helm of the Knights and improved to 6-0 in home openers with Wednesday's win over Queens. In his first season with the Knights (2013-14), Herenda became the second-ever New Jersey coach to defeat both Rutgers and Seton Hall in the same season, joining Princeton's Pete Carril as the only coaches to accomplish the feat. Last season, the Knights enjoyed their third consecutive .500 or better season in NEC play as Herenda led the team to a 9-9 conference mark. Under Herenda, the Knights have qualified for the NEC Tournament in four of his five seasons.
- Mitch Henderson '98, is the third-winningest coach in program history and is in his eighth season head coach of the Tigers. He is 133-77 (.633) in his tenure at Princeton. In 2017, Henderson led the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament and a first-round near-upset of 14th-ranked and fifth-seeded Notre Dame. The 2017 season saw Henderson win Ivy League Coach of the Year honor. Henderson was drafted by the New York Yankees as an outfielder with the 24th pick of the 29th round, in 1994.
The Teams
- FDU rebounded from their season-opening loss at Rutgers by rolling past Queens and NYIT last week at the Rothman Center. The Knights have caused at least 17 turnovers in each of their three contests this season and boast an NEC-best 10.7 margin of victory. The Knights host Lafayette at the Rothman Center on Sunday afternoon.
- Like the Knights, Princeton is seeking its first win over a Division I opponent this season following a 72-57 setback last time out against Lehigh. The Tigers topped Division III DeSales 85-51 in the opener. Myles Stephens scored 18 points with 12 rebounds in his 36 minutes of action against Lehigh last game. The Mountain Hawks held the Tigers offense to just 28.3 percent shooting in the game and out-rebounded the tigers 49 to 37.

Knights Last Time Out
Behind five players in double figures, the Knights earned an 85-57 victory over NYIT at the Rothman Center on Friday night. Jenkins led all scorers with 17 points and enjoyed a full stat line, which included five assists, four steals and three rebounds. The balanced attack featured Darnell Edge score 16 and Xzavier Malone-Key finish with 15. The Knights' frontcourt of Mike Holloway Jr. and Kaleb Bishop finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Herenda's Thoughts
"We had to compete on every possession to distance ourselves from a scrappy NYIT team tonight. What I like most about the way we are playing is our defensive consistency which is leading to great opportunities in our fastbreak."
"Jahlil really got us going in the second half – which then got Darnell and Xzavier involved as well. Once this group gets going offensively, we have a chance to be very dangerous. Now we need to get ready to go on the road and play in another very tough environment within our state. Princeton is an extremely well-coached team with a ton of highly-skilled players and I hope our alumni, family and fans follow us down to cheer us on."
Next Up
The Knights host Lafayette College at the Rothman Center this Sunday, November 25 at 3:00 p.m. Prior to tip-off, the team will present Darnell Edge with his 2017-18 NCAA Free-Throw Percentage Champion plaque.
