Women's Basketball Falls at Home Against Bryant

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team got within 10 in the third quarter but could not get any closer in a 65-48 loss to Bryant on Saturday afternoon. 

The Knights got out to a 13-5 lead in the opening five minutes. Bryant (3-12, 2-2 NEC) responded with a 9-0 run to take a 14-13 lead. The game was at 17, 19 and 21 in the opening 10 minutes. Bryant led 23-21 after one then held Fairleigh Dickinson to 27 total points over the remaining 30 minutes. 

Fairleigh Dickinson (9-7, 1-4 NEC) got as close as 10 with 1:37 left in the third when Madelynn Comly capped an 8-0 run by the Knights with a layup. 

The Bulldogs outscored the Knights 17-9 in the second pull away and did not let Fairleigh Dickinson get anything going offensively for the remainder of the contest. Bryant also held a 29-10 advantage in free throw attempts. The Bulldogs hit 21 free throws, while the Knights hit seven. 

An 8-0 run to start the third quarter moved the Bryant advantage ou to 18, 48-30, with 6:06 left. That spurt preceded the 8-0 by the Knights that got them within 10. 

The fourth quarter saw Bryant have a 5-0 run and then a 7-0 spurt to take an 18-point lead, 63-45, with 2:31 left. 

Sydney Holloway of Bryant led all scorers with 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Naomi Ashley was also in double figures for the Bulldogs with 10. 

Peniel M'Bikata led the Knights with 12 and pulled down six boards. Amina Markovic had 10--her sixth straight game in double figures. Comly finished with eight points, and Natalie Zamora was the top rebounder for the Knights with eight--new career-high. 

The Knights are back in action on Monday evening at 5 p.m. when they host the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State inside the Rothman Center.
