HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson volleyball is set to take on Quinnipiac in the 2017 home opener at the Rothman Center on Wednesday night.
The Knights (2-5) are coming off of a 1-2 weekend at the Holy Cross Invitational, where they topped Manhattan 3-1 on Sunday after suffering a pair of setbacks to Brown and Holy Cross on Saturday.
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
The Bobcats were last in action when they traveled to the Washington State Invitational, suffering a 3-2 loss to Incarnate Word and 3-0 defeats to Charleston, Washington State and Baylor. Washington State (No. 28) and Baylor (No. 29) both came into the tournament ranked just outside the national top 25. Sophomore outside hitter Natalie Alechko was named to the Cougar Challenge All-Tournament team after tallying 40 kills in four matches and tied her career high with 18 kills against Bryant.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Knights lead the all-time series between the teams 20-7 with their last win coming in 2015. The Bobcats came away with a 3-1 (25-17, 27-25, 23-25, 25-14) victory last season in Hamden, Connecticut.
SERVE IT UP
In Sunday's victory over Manhattan, the Knights registered an NCAA Division I season-high 18 services aces en route to a 3-1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-22, 25-16) victory. The Knights' serving party was led by freshman setter
McKenna Setterlund's eight aces (also a 2017 NCAA single-match high) and senior
Taylor Wyckoff's five.
SETTERLUND SETS THE TONE
Setterlund had another successful week for the Knights as the team posted a 2-2 record. The freshman setter dished out 30 assists in each of the team's two victories and currently ranks third in the Northeast Conference with 7.86 assists per set.
WYCKOFF'S SERVING PROWESS
Wyckoff, who is a key cog in the Knights' offense with her hitting out of the middle, has been putting points on the board with her illusive serve. The San Diego native is tied for first in the NEC with 0.45 aces per set.
