Baseball Hosts Mount St. Mary's for Four-Game Series this Weekend

TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team is set to host Mount St. Mary's for a four-game series beginning on Friday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex.

The Knights (4-14, 2-1 NEC) are in the midst of a five-game skid but still boast a winning record in NEC games as they prepare for their second conference series of the season.

The team is coming off a three-game sweep at BIG EAST opponent Xavier. Offensively over the weekend, senior shortstop Matt McCann remained red-hot and now has two hits in each of the Knights' last four games.

McCann's .356 batting average leads the Knights on the season. In his return to his home state of Ohio, sophomore catcher Evan McDonald also excelled against the Musketeers and finished the series 6-of-10 at the dish. McDonald ranks second on the Knights with a .338 batting average and is tied for the team lead in home runs with four.

Mount St. Mary's (4-17, 2-4 NEC) dropped a pair of games at UMBC last weekend but had won four of five prior to that. In NEC action this season, the Mount has claimed two out of three from LIU Brooklyn and suffered a three-game sweep to Central Connecticut State.

Last season, the Knights were 6-2 against the Mountaineers, including three wins at home. This weekend's series will be the lone regular season meeting between the squads.
