Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team dropped its second of three games to Xavier, 8-5 at Hayden Saturday afternoon.

For the second day in a row, the Knights (4-13) held an early lead but the Musketeers (15-12) came out on top.

After launching his fourth home run of the season in Friday's series opener, Evan McDonald continued his success at the dish with a 3-for-3 effort on Saturday. McDonald knocked in a run and scored one in the loss, while Owen Vonesslinger hit his first homer as a Knight with a two-run blast. 

Fellow freshman Jorge Iza also smacked his first collegiate homer and went 2-for-4 on the afternoon.

The Knights leapt out to a 2-0 edge in the top of the second thanks to Vonesslinger's blast. FDU starter Danny Demetrops kept the Musketeer bats quiet over the first three frames. 

Xavier broke through against the Knights' southpaw with two tallies in the fourth and then moved in front thanks to an RBI single by Matt Fallon in the home fifth.

Demetrops' afternoon concluded after 6.1 innings, across which he allowed five runs on seven hits to go along with a pair of strikeouts.

Xavier continued to surge with one run in the sixth and four in the seventh to extend its lead to 8-2.

The Knights etched a run in the seventh and one more in the eighth to pull within four. In the top of the ninth, the Knights showed resiliency as they refused to go quietly. 

Hunter Reeser drew a walk then Jorge Iza single. A run-scoring groundout by Brandon Seltzer made it a three-run game with two outs.  Xavier turned to closer Taylor Williams, who walked Romano to load the bases and bring the go-ahead run to the plate.

With the game in the balance, Williams buckled down and managed to get the Knights' leading hitter Ryan Brennan for the final out as Xavier held on for the 8-5 victory.

These teams close out the series tomorrow with first pitch set for noon at Hayden Field
