ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team dropped its second of three games this weekend to Saint Louis University, 8-0 on Saturday afternoon at Billiken Sports Center.
The Knights (0-8) were unable to get the bats going against Billikens' starter Jackson Wark, who tossed six scoreless innings allowing two hits, while striking out six to earn his second win of the young season.
Ryan Brennan and
Owen Vonesslinger were responsible for the Knights' two hits on the day as Wark and three Billiken relievers shut down the Knights' offense. With the win, the Billikens move to 9-1 on the campaign.
For the second straight day, Carter Hanford was a nuisance for the Knights as the Saint Louis third baseman knocked in a pair of runs on the day, including one with a base hit in the home first.
The Billikens netted four runs in the first frame, which was plenty of support for Wark. Senior right-hander
Logan Frati made his second start of the season for the Knights and lasted four innings before giving way to
Dillon Forsythe,
Bobby Ramsey and
David Moore.
The Knights will look to avoid the sweep when these two teams close out the series tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. (EST).
