No. 8 Women's Bowling Finishes 11th at McKendree Open

DAY THREE
FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – The final day of competition at the McKendree Bearkat Open saw the eight-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team finished 11th after going 1-2 on Sunday.
 
The Knights lost a pair of tight matches to No. 19 UAB and No. 14 Saint Francis U before beating No. 20 Prairie View A&M to grab 11th.
 
The format for Sunday was best 4-of-7 baker games. The Knights took on the Blazers of UAB in match one, and the Blazers swept the Knights 4-0, but no game was decided by more than 23 pins, including games three and four which went UAB's way at 170-167 and 160-158.
 
In match two the Knights took on the Saint Francis U Red Flash, who fell to North Carolina A&T in round one. Fairleigh Dickinson was able to squeak out the win in game one, 211-209. The next four games were even closer than games against UAB. The Red Flash, who went on to finished 10th, took game two by six pins, game three by one and games four and five by four pins.

Match three was against Prairie View A&M, and the Knights went with a lineup of Deborah Epps, Jenna Henderson, Amanda Chrzanowski, Aimee Sherman and Karsyn Lukosius. The quartet got the Knights a perfect 4-0 sweep of the Panthers to end the day with a win. The took game one 202-173 and rolled a 244 and 234 in games two and three to win comfortably. The fourth game went 181-163 in favor of the Knights.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson returns home for the annual FDU NJ Jamboree this coming weekend. The tournament will be held down in Stratford, New Jersey. The competition gets underway on Friday, November 3 and runs through Sunday, November 5 at 30 Strikes Lanes.

DAY TWO
FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – The second day of the McKendree Bearkat open saw the eight-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team go 4-1 over five traditional team games on Saturday. The Knights averaged 932.6 per game, which moved the Knights from 11th to ninth in the standings heading into bracket play Sunday. 

The Knights faced Maryville, No. 19 UAB, No. 14 Saint Francis U, No. 11 Wisconsin Whitewater and Drury on Saturday.

Karsyn Lukosius rolled a 204 in match one, and Aimee Sherman added a 197 to help the Knights win 905-749 over Maryville. Amy Caruso chipped in with a 184.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson recorded its highest pinfall of the day in a win against the UAB Blazers, 1031-918. Like in match one, Lukosius knocked down 204. However, it was Amanda Chrzanowski rolled the best game by a Knight all day with a 255 to pace the team. Brianna McCleod and Caruso added 197s for the Knights.
 
The Knights made it three wins to start the day with a close 943-924 victory over Northeast Conference foe Saint Francis U. Caruso led the way in the matchup with a 220 – best of the day. A trio of Knights; Lukosius, Sherman, and Chrzanowski, were all between 180 and 195.
 
A fourth win came for Fairleigh Dickinson against Wisconsin Whitewater 930-901. Deborah Epps made her debut of the day and promptly rolled a 214 to lead the way. Lukosius was also over 200 with a 203 – third time over 200 on the day.
 
Unfortunately, the day ended with a loss for Fairleigh Dickinson as the Knights fell to Drury, 862-854. Samantha Hart did her best in her lone appearance of the day and posted a 209. However, no other Knight was over 180 in match five of the day.
 
Lukosius and Chrzanowski bowled in all five games. Lukosius averaged 196.4 (19th in individual standings), and Chrzanowski was at an even 190 (30th) per game. Caruso averaged 189.25 over four games on the day.
 
To start bracket play tomorrow, the ninth-place Knights will battle tenth-place UAB in the first round. The winner will face either Central Missouri or Arkansas State.

DAY ONE
FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. -- The first day of the 2017-18 bowling season for No. 8 Fairleigh Dickinson saw the Knights go 2-3 over five baker matches at the McKendree Bearkat Open. 

The five matches saw the Knights face No. 3 Arkansas State, No. 6 Stephen F Austin, Monmouth, No. 1 McKendree and No. 20 Prairie View A&M. The Knights sit in 11th in the standings, which are based on pinfall and not record. No. 2 Nebraska is atop the standings with a 200.4 average on Friday. 

In match one, the Knights were able to top Arkansas State 963-769. Fairleigh Dickinson won games one (176-146), two (174-124), three (202-149) and five (245-135). 

SFA evened the Knights' record at 1-1 with a 971-898 win in match number two. Fairleigh Dickinson won the first two games by 21 and 11 pins, however, the Lumberjacks won the remaining three and used a 189 in game four and a 234 in game five to erase the deficit. 

Monmouth made it back-to-back losses for the Knights as the Hawks took match three, 988-855. Monmouth won the first four games of the contest by at least 20 pins. That advantage was then able to withstand a 205-188 win from the Knights in game five. 

The hosts, McKendree, handed the Knights a third straight loss with a 1,012-922 decision in match four. Fairleigh Dickinson won game one, 209-191, but McKendree won game two by 13 pins, game three by 24 pins and game four by nine to build a lead heading into game five. The Bobcats then used a 235 to create separation between the two. 

The final match of the day against Prairie View A&M saw Fairleigh Dickinson end the day on a winning note, 981-858. The 981 was the best pinfall for the Knights on the day. The Knights won games two, four and five decisively to create the winning margin. 

The 23-team field returns to action tomorrow for five traditional games.
