HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson volleyball team closes out their home schedule this weekend with a Friday match against Saint Francis U at 5:00 p.m. and Saturday's senior day match against Robert Morris, which begins at 4:00 p.m.
Prior to Saturday's match against the Colonials, the Knights will honor their two seniors,
Carly O'Sullivan and
Taylor Wyckoff.
The Knights dropped both matches to these teams earlier this season falling in straight sets to both the Red Flash (11-11, 5-4 NEC) and the Colonials (11-13, 5-4 NEC) on the road.
THE KNIGHTS
The Knights will look to close out their stretch of eight straight home matches on a positive note this weekend. The team is 2-2 in its last four matches, including a pair of straight-set wins over St. Francis Brooklyn and Manhattan. Freshmen
Magdalena Maksimovic and
Nataliya Rybakova have reached double-digit kills in three of their last four matches. In her first season with the Knights, Maksimovic also ranks third in the NEC and first on the Knights with 22 service aces.
SENIOR LEADERS
The Knights' seniors O'Sullivan and Wyckoff have been the team's leaders in their respective fortes. As the team's libero, O'Sullivan speaheads the Knights' defense, while Wyckoff leads the team in kills and total attacks. At four digs per set, O'Sullivan tops the Knights, who feature five players averaging two or more digs per set. Wyckoff has been the team's offensive leader this season with 187 kills on the campaign on a team-high 621 attacks.
SCOUTING THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis comes into the weekend off of a split with the Brooklyn teams, this time inside DeGol Arena. The Red Flash swept St. Francis Brooklyn and fell to LIU Brooklyn in a three-set match. The Red Flash continue to be paced by Kelsey Roush and Emily Marcinowski on the outside. The two seniors average over three kills per set with Roush second in the NEC at 3.91 kills per set. Against the Terriers, four players had at least seven kills and three reached double digits in kills. Defensively, Jenna Veres leads the NEC in digs, averaging nearly six digs per set on the season and nearly seven digs per set in NEC play. Saint Francis is seeking its first win at FDU since the 2013 season.
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris won a pair of matches last weekend at home against LIU Brooklyn and St. Francis Brooklyn and enter this weekend tied with the Red Flash for fourth in the NEC standings. The Colonials lead the NEC with a .197 attack percentage and service aces with 1.88 per set. At the forefront of the serving effort is freshman middle Emma Granger, who leads the NEC at 0.58 aces per set. Granger also ranks second in the NEC in attack percentage at .364 and is eighth in kills at 3.05 per set. Senior setter Brianna Frakes ranks third in the NEC with 8.74 assists per set.

The Knights close out the regular season with four straight road matches beginning next weekend when they take on Bryant on Friday, November 3 in Smithfield, R.I. and then Saturday, November 4 against Central Connecticut State in New Britain, Conn.
