Box Score NEWARK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team fell to NJIT in non-conference action on Tuesday night by a score of 14-3. The Knights (18-18) led after the top of the third, but the Highlanders (13-21) regained the lead in the bottom of the frame and then broke the game open with nine runs in the seventh inning.
The Knights trailed 1-0 heading to the top of third, but senior
John Giakas (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) walked and redshirt junior
Ryan Brennan (Mooresville, N.C./Mooresville) singled to give the Knights runners on the first and second with one out. Sophomore
Bobby Romano (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan ) delivered a RBI double to right center and freshman
Evan McDonald (Circleville, Ohio/Logan Elm) followed with a sacrifice fly to give FDU a 2-1 lead.
The Highlanders scored twice in the bottom of the third to retake the lead and then added two more in the bottom of the fourth after FDU had retied the game in the top of the frame.
The Knights' run in the fourth came as freshman
CJ Stablein (Westerville, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) singled and came around to score on a base hit by senior
Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park).
NJIT broke the game open with nine runs in the seventh inning.

Evan Layne (Brooklyn, N.Y./Telecommunications) (1-1) took the loss for the Knights he allowed two runs in two innings.
