Frati Dominant as Knights Win

Box Score

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Redshirt junior Logan Frati (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport/South Manor) pitched his third complete game shutout of the season to give the Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team a series victory over Mount St. Mary's.  The Knights improve to 18-17 overall and 8-7 in Northeast Conference play with the 1-0 victory.  The Mountaineers fall to 4-26 and 3-13 in conference.

Frati dominated the Mountaineers for the second time this season to record his third complete game shutout and second in NEC play.  He limited the Mount to just four hits and two walks, while matching his career-high with 12 strikeouts.

The Mountaineers threatened in the second inning with runners on second and third with one out, but Frati punched out the next two hitters to get out of the frame.

Frati allowed his final base runner of the game in the sixth inning, a two out single to center.  He retired the next batter on a ground out and then proceeded to retire the Mountaineers in order in the seventh, eighth and ninth.  He recorded five of the nine outs via the strikeout.

The FDU offense gave Frati all the support he would need in the top of the third inning.  With two outs, senior Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park) was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a balk before scoring on an RBI single from junior Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ).

Sprague was one of three Knights to record two hits in the game.  Redshirt junior Ryan Brennan (Mooresville, N.C./Mooresville) and senior Patrick McClure (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius ) also collected two hits.  McCann, sophomore Bobby Romano (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan ) and senior Shane Siebler (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) all had one hit.

McCann also picked up his 24th stolen base of the season in the game.

Frati improves to 5-1 on the season with the victory.  Hunter Shuff takes the loss for the Mount; he falls to 1-2.

On the season, Frati is now 2-0 with 18 scoreless innings and 24 strikeouts against the Mount.  Frati also pitched a 1-0 shutout against NYIT on March 26.

The Knights will return to action with a non-conference game against NJIT on Tuesday night in Newark.
