Ryan Brennan (Mooresville, N.C./Mooresville) led the Knights with three hits and two runs batted in. The Knights fall to 14-16 on the season with the loss, while Coppin State improves to 9-22.
The Knights jumped out to an early one to nothing lead as Brennan led off the second inning with a double and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by senior
Joel Roman (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford).
Coppin State answered with a run in the bottom of the frame and tacked on two more in the fourth to grab a 3-1 lead.
FDU cut the deficit to a single run as sophomore
Jason Fatzinger (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning, but Coppin State broke the game open with four runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Knights made it a 7-5 game with three runs in the sixth, including a two-run home run by Brennan. An additional run in the seventh made it a 7-6 game, but Coppin State scored four times in the seventh and four in the eighth to up 15-6.
The Knights scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth, but it was not enough.
Brennan finished three-for-four at the plate and drove in two runs. He also scored three times.

Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park), Fatzinger and Roman each picked up two hits for the Knights.

Nick Cuono (Hawthorne, N.J./Montvale Saint Joseph ) started on the mound and took the loss. He falls to 0-1. Darien Percell improved to 1-0 by earning the win for Coppin State.
The teams will meet again on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
