Orlando, Fla. - The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team looked to get back in the win column against Bethune Cookman after dropping a 5-2 setback to Quinnipiac. Early on, Bethune Cookman jumped all over the Knights stealing doubles honors and winning the first two singles matchups and unfortunately this sealed the Knights fate. Though FDU tabbed four victories to end the series, their opponent snagged a lead the Knights could not taint and would win it, 4-3.
The pairing of
Jacob Whalley (Wirral, England/Calday Grange Grammar School) and
Adam Chan (Hillingdon, England/ Langley Grammar School ) came the closest to silencing Bethune Cookman. In the end however, they would fall 6-4.
For the individual portion,
Gonzalo Quintana (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Particular Pert),
Diogo Garnel (Lisbon, Portugal/Carcavelos Tenis),
Kiran Mani (Brewster, N.Y./Laurel Springs) and
William Bourne (Stamford, England/Stamford) all granted FDU victories. Quintana trumped Bethune Cookman's Jose Plazas 7-5, 3-6, 1-0, 10-5 to grant the Knights their first win. Bourne concluded action in the win column beating out PabloLopez, 7-5, 6-1.
