Box Score TEANECK, N.J. - Chris Bronk pitched five scoreless innings and gave up just two Fairleigh Dickinson for Hofstra as the Pride picked up the win 4-1 over the Knights on Tuesday afternoon.
Hofstra (5-10) scored twice in the third and fourth innings to take a 4-0 lead. Ryan Karl doubled to center field to drive in Steven Foster, who started got with single to center. Vito Friscia followed with a single to center that brought in Mat Annunziata to make it 2-0 Pride.
In the fourth, the Pride got a lead-off from Kevin O'Connor. O'Connor came around to score on a Knight miscue. Foster, who reached on the error, came around to score on a David Leiderman single.
The Knights got two on in its half of the fifth but stranded both as
John Giakas (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) lined out to first.
Fairleigh Dickinson (6-7) got on the board in the eighth inning.
Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ) doubled to lead off the frame and advanced to third on a fly out by
Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park).
Chris Grupp (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands College Park), who came on for Giakas at first, grounded out to the pitcher and, which got McCann home.
Teddy Chillis pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save as Bonk picked up his first win of the season.
PJ Weeks (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) took the loss for Fairleigh Dickinson. Weeks gave up all four runs -- two earned -- in his one and a third innings of work.
The Knights return to the diamond this weekend when they host Mount St. Mary's for a four-game series starting on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Naomi Family Baseball Complex.
