FDU and SFU have played twice this season with the Knights winning both meetings.  In the most recent meeting, January 28, sophomore Darian Anderson (Washington, D.C./St. John's College ) hit a go-ahead basket with seconds remaining in overtime and sophomore Marques Townes (Edison, N.J./St. Joseph (Metuchen)) sealed the victory by blocking Saint Francis' final shot attempt.  FDU won the first meeting 71-59 earlier in January.

"Our guys truly deserve the position that they are in as the #2 seed in our conference tournament," head coach Greg Herenda said on Sunday.  "They have committed themselves all season long and obviously this last weekend showed what kind of heart and grit they possess for such a young group."

"We have so much respect for Saint Francis - they have three great seniors and are very well coached.  Just like every game in the league this year I think every tournament game will be up for grabs and will be highly competitive.  We are all 0-0 and nothing would surprise me.  We are very excited and honored to be in the position that we are in."

The Knights clinched a top-four seed and a home game with their win at Mount St. Mary's on February 25 and then secured the #2 seed by going on the road and defeating Central Connecticut on Saturday.

The NEC Tournament is an eight team single-elimination tournament with all games being played on the court of the higher seed.  The tournament field is reseeded after the quarterfinals so that the highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed.

As the NEC Tournament's #2 seed, the Knights will host any game they play in the tournament, with the exception of a contest against top seeded Wagner.

The NEC Tournament Quarterfinals are being held Wednesday, March 2 with the Semifinals scheduled for Saturday, March 5.  The 2016 NEC Championship Game will be played on Tuesday, March 8.
