LEXINGTON, S.C. - The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team fell to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday afternoon.  The Knights (0-2) tied the game in the eighth inning on a two-run double by senior Joel Roman (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford), but the Hawks (2-0) plated two runs in the bottom of the frame to win the game 6-4.

Sophomore Bobby Romano (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan ) hit his first home run of the season and freshman Evan McDonald (Circleville, Ohio/Logan Elm) hit his first career home run.  The duo both homered in the top of the second inning.

Freshman Corey Zeller (Carroll, Ohio/Bloom Carroll) started for the Knights and pitched four innings.  He surrendered two runs on five hits and recorded four strikeouts.  Freshman Chris Kachmer followed and worked three innings allowing two runs on two hits.

Senior Ryan MacDonald (Bethpage, N.Y./Island Trees) (0-1) entered with the game tied in the eighth inning and surrendered two runs to take the loss.

The Knights collected eight hits with Roman pounding a pair of doubles.  Junior Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ), junior Ryan Brennan (Mooresville, N.C./Mooresville), senior John Giakas (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville), senior Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park), Romano and McDonald all had one hit.

The Knights and Hawks will complete the series on Sunday morning with a 10 a.m. contest.
