LEXINGTON, S.C. – The 2016 baseball season has arrived and the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights are in South Carolina to take on the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The Knights and Hawks will play a three-game series beginning on Friday, February 19. The series will feature a single game on Friday at 2 p.m. followed by a 1.p.m. game on Saturday and a 10 a.m. start on Sunday.
All three games will be played at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
The Knights and Hawks last met in 2011 when they played a series to open the season. That was head coach
Gary Puccio's first year at the helm of the FDU baseball program and his team went 2-1 over the three games.
The Knights finished the 2015 season in fourth place in the Northeast Conference to earn a trip to the NEC Tournament. FDU knocked off top seeded Bryant in the first game of the tournament, but ultimately fell to Sacred Heart and Bryant.
The 2016 squad returns eight of nine starters from the last season's lineup and two weekend starters in
Joe Flack (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) and
Logan Frati (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport/South Manor). The Knights also welcome back 2014 weekend started
John Chalupa (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) who missed the 2015 campaign with and injury.
