The Knights went 2-2 with a bye included over the five matches on Sunday. The two wins came against LIU Brooklyn and Duquesne in baker.
Head coach
Mike LoPresti said, "While our win-loss record for the day doesn't indicate it, we clearly played better today and were more competitive. We'll need to be more consistent, more resilient, and smarter during the Spring semester in order for us to make a run at the postseason. There are plenty of matches left on our schedule to do it, but we'll need a few players to step up and make it happen."
"It would have been much different if a couple of breaks could have gone our way. One, in particular, was in the first match of the day when our anchor bowler,
Melanie Hannon, stepped up in the 10th frame only needing a mark to close out the game, and made a great shot but left a pocket 7-10. We end up losing the match by 4 sticks. We struggled with repeating shots all weekend and because of that, we were fighting uphill in every match. Still, Mel made a great shot there, and unfortunately, it did not go our way."
Individually,
Melanie Hannon finished sixth in the standings with a 196.4 average over seven games.
Laura Branch was right behind in seventh after averaging 195.5.
Morgan Brown was the third night in the top 15 in 13th after averaging 180.7.
Match one of the day was the final traditional team match of the weekend and the Knights fell by three pins, 897-894, to St. Francis Brooklyn. Fairleigh Dickinson ended the traditional games with a 2-4 record on Saturday and Sunday.
Fairleigh Dickinson opened the baker matches with a win over LIU Brooklyn, 1,035-981.
Sacred Heart was the opponent in match three of the day and second baker. The Pioneers came away with the 1,107-990 win. It was the second win of the weekend for the Pioneers versus the Knights.
In the Knights' last match of the day – they had a bye in the final slot, they faced Duquesne. Fairleigh Dickinson came away with the 945-911 win to conclude the weekend.
The Knights do not compete again until the calendar turns to 2017 with the Garden State College Single Championships on January 16 and the Kutztown Golden Bear Invitational on January 20-22.Kutztown Golden Bear Invitational on January 20-22.
