BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's fencing team competed in the inaugural LIU Post Invitational.
 
In the first round, the Knights lost to Drew 17-10.
 
In Epee, the Knights fell just short with a 5-4 loss. Freshman Natalia Toby won all three of her contests, beating Claudia West, Anna Scheckel and Sam Iler. Fellow freshman Jennifer Vernon picked up a win against Scheckel as well.
 
The Knights fell 6-3 to Drew in Saber. Senior Jillian Habersaat picked up two wins for the Knights, defeating Joy Brooks and Pearl Sutter. Sophomore Isabella Garcia also earned a win over Brooks.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson lost to the Rangers 6-3 in Foil. Nadine Abdelaziz tallied two wins for the Knights, beating Lydia Segal and Alina Qasim. Sophomore Carly Edelman also picked up a win over Qasim.
 
The Knights beat host team LIU Post 15-11 in round two.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson lost 5-4 to LIU Post in Epee. Once again, Toby picked up three wins, defeating Kirstan Shaw, Jen Blanco and Chantelle Duncan. Vernon defeated Duncan to round out the field.
 
The Knights defeated LIU Post 6-3 in Saber. Habersaat and Gacrcia both swept the field with wins over Kat Miraglia, Sophie Michaelides and Katie Neimer.
 
The Knights won Foil 5-3. Abdelaziz earned three points for the Knights with wins over Viktoria Bogart and Brittany Burgos as well as a forfeit. Edelman picked up two wins, beating Bogart and earning a win by forfeit.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson lost to Wellesley, 16-11, in round three.
 
In Epee, the Knights lost in a close 5-4 match. Toby continued to dominate, picking up three wins over Cassandra Cronn, Calla Nelles-Sager and Emma Brewer-Wallin. Vernon also picked up a win over Nelles-Sager.
 
The Knights fell 6-3 to Wellesley in Saber. Habersaat earned two victories over Madeleine Barowsky and Meg Harney. Garcia also defeated Barowsky.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson also lost 6-3 in Foil. Abdelaziz defeated Brie Maurer and Sarah Guise while Edelman also beat Guise.
 
The Knights faced off with Wagner in round four and walked away with an 18-8 win over the Seahawks.
 
In Epee, the Knights won it, 5-4. Toby picked up three wins against Victoria McGrath, Michelle Detka and Corinne Rondina. Vernon earned the other two wins in Epee, defeating Detka and Rondina.
 
The Knights took Saber 9-0 by default, as there were no Saber participants for Wagner.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson and Wagner battled to a 4-4 tie in Foil. Abdelaziz picked up three wins the for the Knights, defeated Kristen Hayes and Rebecca Errickson while also earning a win due to forfeit. Edelman picked up a point due to a Wagner forfeit.
 
In the fifth and final round, the Knights came away with a 15-12 win over NJIT.
 
NJIT defeated the Knights 6-3 in Epee. Toby picked up two wins for the Knights, beating Malak Ejjaki and Jule Shigihara. Vernon also defeated Ejjaki.
 
The Knights took Saber, 8-1. Habersaat and Garcia each defeated Brittany Goulart and Kaelyn Gamel while also picking up a point for a forfeit. Ramdedovic also earned a point due to a forfeit.
 
The Knights fell to NJIT, 5-4, in Foil. Abdelaziz picked up three wins over Aubrey Watson, Lenna Nashif and Julia Garcia. Edelman picked up the final point for Fairleigh Dickinson with a win over Nashif.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson has some time off before its next competition. The Knights are back in action on Saturday, January 21 at the Philadelphia Invitational.
