HACKENSACK, N.J. – Head coach
Mike LoPresti and the Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling program announce the signing of three student-athletes in the class of 2021.
The three signees are Amanda Chrzanowski of Schenectady, New York, Jenna Henderson of Warren Hills High School, Aimee Sherman of Jackson, New Jersey.
"The additions of Jenna, Aimee and Amanda to our program will possess us with more depth, fire power and diversity," said LoPresti. "All three are honor students, who maintain a strong work ethic, and possess a burning desire to compete. We believe that as members of our team their contributions will surely help us advance our level of play to a level we have not reached in a while."
Sherman helped Jackson to a New Jersey Group IV State Championship in 2015 and the 2014 New Jersey Central Section Individual Champion in 2015. In 2016, Sherman recorded an average of 210 and has a career-best of a 299. She also finished 40th at the 2015 Junior Gold Championships in Chicago and had the second highest average in the state of New Jersey as a junior last season. Simpson is not the first person in her extended family to bowl at Division I level, her cousin Jessica Worsley bowled for Maryland Eastern Shore.
LoPresti said of Sherman, "Aimee's power game will be a welcome addition to our program. On the day, she verbally committed to sign with us, she shot her first 300-game in her travel league. I think that's a pretty good indication of what she can do and what we can expect."
Henderson has twice been named female junior bowler of the year by the Express Times and led Warren Hills to a New Jersey North Sectional Group III championship in 2016. During her time at Warren Hills, Henderson was also a first team all-conference performer and averaged a 209 in 2016.
LoPresti on Henderson, "Jenna owns all of the tools to be a strong Division I player. Her combination of experience, knowledge, and skill will make her an impact player on our team. Moreover, being a left-hander will make Jenna even more valuable."
Chrzanowski hails from Schenectady, New York where she was a three-time first team all-conference performer. Chrzanowski has also been named a New York State Sectional All-Star team selection twice and led her sectional all-star team to the 2016 New York State Championship.
"Amanda is a highly competitive, athletic player with a versatile game," said LoPresti. "She has gained valuable experience from competing in national-level events during the past three summers. Amanda has all the tools to be a strong player on our team, and we look forward to putting her out in the line-up and battling against the best teams in the country."
The Knights will compete next at the Northeast Conference Fall Meet in Wallingford, Connecticut two weekends from now (December 3 & 4). All three signees will make their collegiate debuts in the 2017-18 season.
