No. 10 Knights Finish Seventh at UWW Warhawk Classic

FINAL RESULTS

DAY THREE RECAP
KENOSHA, Wis. – The 10th ranked Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team finished seventh at the UWW Warhawk Classic after going 2-1 in bracket play on Sunday.

The Knights finished the weekend 7-5 and sit at 27-10 overall this season.

"Coming into this weekend we knew it would be a tough one because the tournament field was full of top 10 teams and NCAA selection hopefuls," said head coach Mike LoPresti. "Overall, we improved each day and held our own. We are certainly a better team leaving than when we arrived. And, that's why we upgraded our season schedule. We needed to be challenged more, and the experience will payoff down the road."

No. 3 Arkansas State beat No. 5 McKendree in the championship match to secure the title.

The first round on Sunday the Knights squared off with No. 9 Wisconsin Whitewater in a best-of-seven baker match. Fairleigh Dickinson got past the Warhawks in five games. The Knights win close games in games one and three. Whitewater won game four, 199-181, before the Knights wrapped up the match with a 190-172 win game five.

With the win over the hosts, the Knights moved onto face No. 2 Stephen F. Austin in round two. The Lady Jacks beat the Knights in five games. Fairleigh Dickinson fell behind three games to none before winning game five 232-169. SFA rolled its third 200 game in game five to end the match with a 222-172 win.

In a rematch of the first round, the Knights once again topped the Warhawks in five games to finish in seventh. Fairleigh Dickinson won the first three games with scores of 171, 215 and 157 before dropping game four. The Knights finished with their best score of the day with a 256 in a 66-pin win.

Individually, Karsyn Lukosius and Melanie Hannon were both named to the All-Tournament team. Lukosius has earned two all-tournament team honors this season and this was Hannon's first.

LoPresti continued, "Melanie Hannon stepped up this weekend. She clearly exhibited why she is a three-time All-American. Karsyn Lukosius showed tremendous resiliency during the event. After struggling with her mechanics on Friday, she found her stroke on Saturday and continued to demonstrate how explosive her game can be during the traditional game matches and the baker playoff rounds. I am extremely proud of these two for putting the program on their backs this weekend."
