Brown and Lukosius All-Tournament Team; Knights Third at FDU NJ Jamboree

FINAL RESULTS

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – Morgan Brown (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) and Karsyn Lukosius (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) earned All-Tournament Team honors and No. 10 Fairleigh Dickinson finished in third place at the 2016 FDU NJ Jamboree over the weekend.

No. 13 LIU Brooklyn beat Sacred Heart four games to two in the finals for the tournament title.

The Knights were the top seed heading into the bracket semifinals and finals on Sunday after leading the field in total pin fall over six baker matches and five traditional team games. There was one final bake game on Sunday morning to determine seeding for bracket play and the Knights rolled a 1,030 and beat Chestnut Hill to enter bracket play at a perfect 11-0. 

In the semifinals the Knights were up against No. 14 Sacred Heart, who finished as the fourth seed. In the best-of-seven baker match the Pioneers moved onto the championship match by beating Fairleigh Dickinson 4.5-0.5. The Pioneers won every game but the third when the teams tied with 188.

The third place saw the Knights take on No. 6 Sam Houston State. The Knights were able to win 4-2 to secure third place, which is where the Knights finished last season. The Knights got out to a three games to none lead after rolling a 190, 211 and 196 in the first three games. Sam Houston came back to win games four and five before the Knights took game six easily, 190-152.

Next for the Knights is a trip out to Wisconsin for the Wisconsin Whitewater Classic on November 11-13 in Kenosha.

Day Two 

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – The 10th ranked Fairleigh Dickinson remain atop the standings after day two of the FDU NJ Jamboree by nine pins over No. 6 Sam Houston State.

The teams played five traditional team games on Saturday. One baker match will occur tomorrow before bracket play starts.

Fairleigh Dickinson leads the field with a total pin fall of 9,733 over team games so far. The Knights are also 10-0 so far. Monmouth, who sits in fifth place in total pin fall is also 10-0. The rest of the top five in pin fall is LIU Brooklyn in third (9,455) and Sacred Heart in fourth (9,146).

Individually, Haley Carrol of Saint Francis U was the top individual by one pin (1067[213.40]-1066[213.2]) over Morgan Brown (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) to claim the individual title. Karsyn Lukosius (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) joined Brown in the top 10 in eighth with a five game average of 200.8.

Game one on Saturday for the Knights was a match-up with Jackson State. The Knights won match 1,001-891. Lukosius and Brown led the way with a 258 and a 234 respectively. Laura Branch (Victor, N.Y./Fairport) rolled a 194 to added to the offense.

Caldwell was opponent in game two and the Knights won the match 926-847. Melanie Hannon (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Maryvale) and Brown were the high scorers with 204 and 201 respectively. Branch was over 180 again with a 188 and Amanda Schilling (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) added a 175.

Northeast Conference foe No. 14Sacred Heart was the adversary in match three and the Knights came away with the 912-858 win. Brown had her best match of the day with a 248. Hannon was at 180 and Branch 179.

Adelphi and Fairliegh Dickinson battled in match four with the Knights prevailing 1,003-978. The 1,003 was the best for the Knights over the day. Lukosius threw a 255 and Branch had her best of the day with a 204. All five Knights were over 170.

The final match of the day came against UAB and the Knights pulled out the 910-811 win. Three Knights were between 188 and 199, led by Brown's 199.

For the day the Knights knocked down 4,752 pins for a five-game average of 950.4.

The action tomorrow gets underway at 8:30 with the one backer match before bracket play.

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – The No. 10 Fairleigh Dickinson Knights lead the FDU NJ Jamboree after day one of competition on Friday at Parkway Lanes.

The Knights went a perfect 5-0 on the day and lead in total pin fall by 48 pins over No. 6 Sam Houston State, who went 4-0 with a bye. The five matches were total pin fall over five baker games for the 27 competing teams.

Match one of the day saw the Knights face No. 8 North Carolina A&T. The Knights took down the Aggies, 1,053-851. Fairleigh Dickinson used games of 226 in game one and 235 in game five to secure the win.

Fairleigh Dickinson improved on their pin fall from game one and defeated No. 9 Wisconsin Whitewater 1,076-936. A score of 255 in game three helped the Knights as well as a 232 in game five. The 255 in game three was the high score the Knights on the day.

The Knights made it three wins in three matches with a 923-777 triumph over Bethune Cookman. The Knights broke 200 in games two (215) and five (214) to secure the win by 146 pins.

In-state foe, Saint Peter's was the opponent in match four but Fairleigh Dickinson got back over 1,000 pins to secure the 1,001-846 win over the Peacocks. Four games over 190; including games of 213 and 234 helped the cause for the Knights.

The day concluded for the Knights with a close 928-897 win over another New Jersey school, Felician. The Knights rolled games of 199 and 196 to erase deficit after Felician rolled a 244 to the Knights' 182 in game one of the match.
