HACKENSACK, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team travels to Fairfield, Connecticut on Thursday, January 7 to take on the Pioneers of Scared Heart. The Knights (5-8, 1-1 NEC) and Pioneers (2-11, 1-1 NEC) are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip at the William H. Pitt Center.
FDU and SHU both enter the game with 1-1 records in Northeast Conference play. The Knights and Pioneers both won on Saturday to open conference action, but dropped contests on Monday night. On Saturday, FDU defeated defending NEC Regular Season Champion and tournament runner-up St. Francis Brooklyn, while Sacred Heart knocked off defending NEC Tournament Champion Robert Morris. Monday night saw the Knights edged by Bryant 85-80 and the Pioneers falling 84-80.

The Pioneers hold a 15-11 advantage in the series, which didn't begin until the 1999-2000 season when Sacred Heart joined the Northeast Conference. Last season, Sacred Heart won both meetings, a 90-85 win at Stratis Arena in the season's penultimate game and a 78-77 overtime victory at the Pitt Center. In
Greg Herenda's first season at FDU the Knights split with Sacred Heart, dropping a 71-67 decision in Fairfield and winning 73-66 at home.
Last Season vs. Sacred Heart: Sacred Heart edged the Knights 90-85 late in the season, but early in the year the two teams met in a thriller at the Pitt Center.
Darian Anderson (Washington, D.C./St. John's College ) connected on a three-pointer to tie the game with 16 seconds left in regulation. With the Knights down 78-77 late in overtime Anderson had the ball again, this time he dribbled inside and floated a shot for the win. The shot went in at the buzzer, but after a monitor review by the officials the basket was waved off as being after time had expired. Anderson finished the game with 21 points.
Anderson Plays Against the Pioneers: Darian Anderson (Washington, D.C./St. John's College ) played well in both meetings with Sacred Heart last season with 21 points in the first meeting and 27 in the second. He also dished out 11 assists in the second meeting, finishing with the first double-double of his career. His 27-point, 11-assist double-double was the first points-assists double-double for the Knights since Sidney Sanders against CCSU on January 25, 2014.

Potts leads the group at 15.3 per game, while Anderson (15.0), Jiggetts (11.7) and Townes (9.5) are close behind. The quartet has accounted for 669 points this season, which is 68% of the team's scoring this year.
