Box Score TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team fell at home on Sunday, September 27 to the Seawolves of Stony Brook University. The Knights (2-6) scored first, but the Seawolves (3-4-2) answered with a tying score late in the first half and then won the game with a goal in the 87
th minute.
The Knights goal came off the foot of freshman
Javen Palmer (London, England/Sedgehill) who notched his team-leading third goal of the season in the 28
th minute. Palmer earned a penalty kick as he attacked the net. The London native stepped to the spot and shot high and to the left to beat the dive of the keeper and give FDU a 1-0 lead.
Stony Brook tied the match in the 45
th minute on a goal by Martin Giordano and then capitalized again late in the second period on a goal by Vince Erdei. The goal by Erdei gave Stony Brook a 2-1 lead and would prove to be the game-winner.
Sophomore keeper
Matthew Weigner (Warrington, Pa/Central Bucks South) recorded eight saves to match his career-high.
The Seawolves applied offensive pressure throughout the match and held an advantage in shots, shots on goal and corner kicks.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, September 30 against Bucknell. FDU will host the Bison at University Stadium in a 7 p.m. match.
