Box Score EASTON, Pa. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team fell to Lafayette on Tuesday night at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium in Easton, Pennsylvania. The Leopards earned a 3-0 shutout victory behind goals from three different players and a strong defensive effort.
The Knights (0-2-0) were unable to score against the Lafayette defense, which has also blanked ACC member Pittsburgh this season.
The Leopards scored two goals in a minute span late in the first half to grab a 2-0 advantage before the break. The first Lafayette goal came in the 34
th minute as Josh Kruczek finished off of a crossing pass from Ben Marks. Less than a minute later, Marks passed up the middle to Todd Forrester who found the net by shooting around the defense and goalkeeper.
Lafayette added another goal with 6:30 left to play as Forrester worked a give-and-go with Grant Burg who scored to give the Leopards a 3-0 lead.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Matthew Weigner (Warrington, Pa/Central Bucks South) played all 90 minutes in net and recorded three saves, but also surrendered three goals.
Lafayette controlled the action for most of the match and held a 12-4 advantage in shots, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal.
FDU junior
Christian Dietrich (Berlin, Germany/Flatow-Oberschule) recorded the Knights lone shot on goal. In the 17
th minute, following a foul by Lafayette, Dietrich delivered an on target shot that was stopped by Lafayette goalkeeper Brad Seeber.
Sophomore
Leo Saiti (Teaneck N.J./Teaneck) contributed a pair of shots for the Knights, but both came in the final 10 minutes of play.
Lafayette improves to 1-0-1 on the season with the victory.
