Men's Soccer Drops Match at Lafayette

Box Score

EASTON, Pa. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team fell to Lafayette on Tuesday night at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium in Easton, Pennsylvania. The Leopards earned a 3-0 shutout victory behind goals from three different players and a strong defensive effort.

The Knights (0-2-0) were unable to score against the Lafayette defense, which has also blanked ACC member Pittsburgh this season.

The Leopards scored two goals in a minute span late in the first half to grab a 2-0 advantage before the break.  The first Lafayette goal came in the 34th minute as Josh Kruczek finished off of a crossing pass from Ben Marks.  Less than a minute later, Marks passed up the middle to Todd Forrester who found the net by shooting around the defense and goalkeeper.

Lafayette added another goal with 6:30 left to play as Forrester worked a give-and-go with Grant Burg who scored to give the Leopards a 3-0 lead.

Sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Weigner (Warrington, Pa/Central Bucks South) played all 90 minutes in net and recorded three saves, but also surrendered three goals.

Lafayette controlled the action for most of the match and held a 12-4 advantage in shots, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal.

FDU junior Christian Dietrich (Berlin, Germany/Flatow-Oberschule) recorded the Knights lone shot on goal.  In the 17th minute, following a foul by Lafayette, Dietrich delivered an on target shot that was stopped by Lafayette goalkeeper Brad Seeber.

Sophomore Leo Saiti (Teaneck N.J./Teaneck) contributed a pair of shots for the Knights, but both came in the final 10 minutes of play.

Lafayette improves to 1-0-1 on the season with the victory.

The Knights will return to action on Sunday, September 6 against Yale.  FDU and the Bulldogs are scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at University Stadium in Teaneck.  Fans that cannot make it to campus for the match can watch all the action live on NECFrontRow.com.
