Box Score NORWICH, Conn. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team fell to Bryant by a score of 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Connecticut. The Knights (21-26) season comes to an end just one win shy of reaching the Northeast Conference Tournament Championship Game. With the win Bryant advances to play Sacred Heart in Saturday's second game.
The Knights were unable to get going offensively against Bryant starting pitcher Brendan Bingel.
FDU connected for six hits in the game with juniors
Patrick McClure (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius ) and
Ryan Brennan (Mooresville, N.C./Mooresville) each posting two hits. Sophomore
Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ) and freshman
Bobby Romano (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan ) also had hits in the game.
Logan Frati (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport/South Manor) started for the Knights he pitched six innings and allowed five runs on nine hits. He falls to 4-7 on the season with the loss.
Bingel limited FDU to six hits over eight innings to earn his fifth win of the season.
Seniors
Yonah Perline (Dix Hills, N.Y./St. Dominic),
Eric Snyder (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) and
Anthony Calise (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) pitched the seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively. All three pitchers rank among FDU's career appearance leaders with Calise extending his school record today with his 100th game on the mound for the Knights.
Bryant scored a single run in the third inning and then broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning. They added two more runs in the seventh to take the 7-0 lead.
The Knights finish the year with a 21-26 record and a NEC Tournament appearance for the second time in four seasons.
