Last Time OutThe Knights went 2-2 over the weekend in Northeast Conference action with splits at reigning league champion Bryant and at home against Saint Francis University. Senior pitcher
Megan Reiner (Los Angeles, Calif./John Marshall) was sensational in a 2-0 win over the Bulldogs with a complete game four-hit shutout.
Cheryl Lopez (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville)'s two-run double in the fourth was all the offensive Reiner would need. The Knights dropped game two, 12-5, and headed home to take on the Red Flash. FDU rallied back in the final inning of game one, scoring five runs, but ultimately fell, 8-6.
Emma Deluca (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township High School),
Alex Portesi (Chino, Calif./Don Antonio Lugo), and Lopez all doubled and combined to hit 7-for-10.
Courtney Slye (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley High School) also homered to begin the late rally. In game two,
Madison Lerma (Escondido, Calif./Escondido) smacked a first inning grand slam, the second of her season, to take an early 4-0 lead. Both Deluca and
Madelaine Wilen (Bakerfield, Calif./Ridgeview High School) provided RBI doubles in the fourth, Slye homered for the second time, and Portesi's two-run sixth inning double provided the go-ahead run for the Knights, who secured the split with a 9-7 win.
