Box Score BELLEVUE, Wash. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team fell to Seattle University on Sunday afternoon at Bannerwood Park. The Knights (0-3) dropped the contest to the Redhawks (4-8) by a final score of 9-1.
The Redhawks got on the board first with three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Seattle added five more runs in the sixth inning and tacked on a final run in the eighth.
FDU got on the board with a single run in the top of the seventh. Juniors
John Giakas (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville),
Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park) and
Patrick McClure (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius ) connected for three straight singles to open the inning and load the bases. The Knights would push across a run on an RBI ground out by freshman
Bobby Romano (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan ).
Junior
Logan Frati (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport/South Manor) (0-1) started and pitched five innings allowing three earned runs on six hits. He struck out four Seattle hitters and walked three, while taking the loss.
Junior
Jose DeLeon (Paterson, N.J./Eastside) came on in relief and allowed five runs in two thirds of an inning. Senior
Eric Snyder (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) relieved DeLeon and worked out of the sixth inning. He then pitched a scoreless seventh. Snyder allowed a single run in the eighth.
In all Snyder pitched 2.1 innings allowing one run on four hits, while striking out three.
As a team, the Knights posted six hits with Sprague collecting a team best two hits.
Ted Hammond (1-0) earned the victory on the mound for the Redhawks with six innings of shutout pitching. Hammond allowed just three hits and struck out four.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, March 4 against Rutgers.
