Gomez Earns All-NEC Honors

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The Northeast Conference announced their postseason honors for the 2025 baseball season on Tuesday afternoon. The FDU Knights were represented by Johnathan Gomez, who was named to the All-NEC Second Team.

The Knights' shortstop received the honor following an electric freshman campaign in Hackensack. Gomez started all 53 games of the season for the Knights, and held things down on both sides of the ball.

The freshman paced the team with a .324 batting average, and eight home runs on the season. Gomez also had a team-high 1.011 OPS. He was just one of eleven players in the NEC to record an OPS of at least one in the 2025 season.

Gomez was an on-base machine all season long. He ranked top ten in the NEC in on-base percentage, hits, and walks. The Coral Springs, FL native provided quality speed on the basepaths for head coach Manny Roman as well. Gomez swiped 12 bags on 13 attempts.

The All-NEC honor adds to the laundry list of accolades Gomez has received during his first collegiate season. Gomez was twice named the NEC Rookie of the Week, and received the NEC Player of the Week honor on April 22. The freshman was also named to the 2025 Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, given to the nation's top shortstop.
