LIVE VIDEOHACKENSACK, N.J. – For the third straight weekend the Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team will hit the road. The Knights travel to Bucknell on Friday and will be trying to make it back-to-back wins. Â
Bucknell is coming off a 55-47 loss to Youngstown State on Wednesday night at home. The Bison sit at 4-3 on the season and are led by Jacquie Klotz at 16.6 points per game and Claire DeBoer at 15.6. Klotz (10.9) and DeBore (9.4) also lead the Bison in rebounding. Megan McGurk leads the team with 26 assists this season.
OPENING TIPThe Knights will play their fifth straight game away from home on Friday vs. Bucknell. FDU plays at West Virginia on Sunday before playing its next eight at home.
SERIES SCOREBucknell has never lost to FDU, 4-0 all-time. Three of the four meetings have been one possession games including last season's 61-60 win for Bucknell in Teaneck. FDU is 19-26 all-time against Patriot League schools.
LAST TIME OUTFDU picked up its first win of the season against Grand Canyon on Sunday. The Knights hit 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch to secure the 74-68 win.
RETURNING SCORINGThe Knights are one of two teams to return two players that averaged at least 18 a game last season.
Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) averaged 18.5 and
Kelsey Cruz (Chester, Va./Lloyd C. Bird) at 18.1. Ohio State is the other with Kelsey Mitchell at 24.9 and Ameryst Alston at 19.8.
HOME COOKINGFDU will hope to take advantage of seven home non-conference games this season. The Knights also have an eight-game home stand from December 9 through January 6.
PRESEASON POLLFDU was picked 4th in the NEC Preseason Poll, as voted on by the coaches. It is the highest preseason ranking under Pete Cinella and highest since 1993-94.
PRESEASON ALL-NECErika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) was tabbed Preseason All-NEC after averaging a double-double last season (18 and 10). The redshirt-senior was the NEC Defensive POTY and First Team All-NEC last season.
1,100 POINTS & COUNTINGErika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) and
Kelsey Cruz (Chester, Va./Lloyd C. Bird) passed the 1,000-point milestone last season. Cruz needs 39 points to move into 11th all-time and Livermore is 58 points from 6th.
3/4 POINTS RETURNKnights return 77.1% (51.2 ppg) of their scoring from a season ago.
NEW POINTThe graduation of
Amanda Andrades (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) and her 175 assists (5.8 apg) and 36.8 minutes leave a big hole for the Knights.
Kiana Brown (Richmond, Va./Hermitage),
Madelynn Comly (Littlestown, Pa./Delone Catholic) and
Natalie Zamora (Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius X) and will compete to see who gets a majority of those minutes and assists.
AMONGST THE TREESFDU led the NEC in blocks per game last season (3.83) and was second in total blocks with 115.
Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) led the Knights with 70. FDU is second so far this season with 5.4 per game.
HITTING THE GLASSFDU is second in the NEC in offensive rebounds per game at 16.6
3-POINT WOESFDU has shot 19.6% (9-of-46) from behind the arc so far this season, which is 335th in Division I.
FREE POINTSFDU is third in NEC in Free Throw Percentage at 71.1.
