Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Hoops Falls at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team fell to Princeton on Monday night at the Jadwin Gymnasium.  The Knights (2-5) were led by 13 points from sophomore Darian Anderson in the 91-61 setback.  The Tigers (4-0) were led by Henry Caruso who scored a game-high 27 points.

Princeton used a 51.9% (14-of-27) second period shooting performance to pull away from the Knights after leading by 15 at the half.

"If the game was 10 minutes long we would have been fine, but after that we literally had nothing left in the tank," head coach Greg Herenda said after the game.  "From that point on Princeton was dominant and we simply had no answers for (Henry) Caruso and (Amir) Bell."

"We just have to learn from it - turn the page and move on to Temple.  Again, it's hard to go through this schedule, but these games will help us in conference play."

In the first half, a quick start for the Knights was erased by solid shooting and strong rebounding.  FDU led 12-5 with 15:29 left in the half, but Princeton used a 10-2 run to take a 15-14 lead less than four minutes later.  The teams traded baskets and the lead over the ensuing five minutes before Princeton pulled away late in the period with three-point shooting.  The Tigers were just 5-of-15 from beyond the arc in the period, but all five came in the final seven minutes of the half.

The Knights were led by nine points from freshman Ghassan Nehme who connected on three-of-three three-point attempts in the half.  Anderson added seven points and three assists in the half.

The Tigers held a 49-30 advantage on the glass and a 40-29 edge on points in the paint.

Princeton shot 52.5% (31-of-59) from the field and 37.5% (9-of-24) from three.  The Knights were 32.2% (19-59) from the field and 4-of-11 from beyond the arc.  Both teams shot below 60% at the free throw line.

Nehme connected on four-of-five shot attempts in the game and was three-of-three from distance.  He finished with 11 points.

Anderson's 13 points came on 6-of-13 shooting and one-of-two from behind the arc.  He also had four assists and two steals.

Princeton's Caruso scored his 27 points on 10-of-11 from the field and two-of-two from long range.  He was five-of-eight at the free throw line.  He also had 10 rebounds in the game.

The Knights will return to action on Wednesday night at American Athletic Conference member Temple.  The Owls will host FDU for a 7 p.m. tip that will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
