MILLSBORO, Del. - The No. 2 ranked Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team finished eighth at the 2015 UMES Hawk Classic.
In the first round of bracket play the faced the Green Wave of Tulane. The Knights advanced with the four games to two win. The two teams alternated wins with in the first four games. Fairleigh Dickinson was then able to squeak out a four-pin win in game five, 156-152, and a seven-pin win, 198-191 in game six to advance.
Everyone pitched in to get the win;
Morgan Brown (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford),
Natasha Ashby (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy),
Karsyn Lukosius (Brick, N.J./Brick Township),
Nicolette Sarin (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township High School) and
Melanie Hannon (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Maryvale) started and
Rebecca Fischer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Northgate) and
Amy Caruso (Dayton, N.J./South Brunswick) made appearances.
The second saw the Knights take on Northeast Conference foe, Saint Francis U. The Knights and Red Flash went the distance with SFU winning game seven, 225-204 to advance. That was after the Knights had taken a three-games to one lead then SFU reeled off three straight wins.
The lose put the Knights in the seventh place game against another NEC foe, this time it was LIU Brooklyn. This match also went to a seventh game with the Blackbirds edging the Knights 212-200 in game seven. Fairleigh Dickinson held a 3-2 lead in games but lost game six, 234-207 and then game seven.
The Knights return to action on the first weekend of December for the Garden State Championships.

Day 2 Complete Standings and ResultsMILLSBORO, Del. – Fairleigh Dickinson heads into Sunday's bracket play in eighth place at the 2015 UMES Hawk Classic. The No. 2 Knights went 3-3 in their six traditional games.
Sam Houston State sits atop the standings with an 11-1 record and a 202.4 team average.
In game one the Knights dropped an 893-836 match against Sam Houston State.
Fairleigh Dickinson got back into the win column with a 1,020-931 win over Monmouth in its second match of the day. In match 3 the Knights were beaten by the hosts, Maryland Eastern Shore, 1,031-874.
The Knights got back to .500 on the day with a 914-558 win over Coppin State. Fairleigh Dickinson made it back-to-back wins with a 971-831 win over Howard in match four. A third straight win came at the expense of Vanderbilt, 981-953.
The final match of the day came against Central Missouri. The Knights succumbed to the Jennies, 983-945.
Individually,
Nicolette Sarin (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township High School) sites eighth in the individual standings with a 205.33 average. The senior is the only Knight in the top 40, with
Karsyn Lukosius (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) sitting in 41st with a 181.67 average.
In the first round of bracket play tomorrow the Knights will face Tulane. The winner will face the loser of the Maryland Eastern Shore and Saint Francis U match.

No. 4 Sam Houston State sits atop the standings with a perfect 6-0 record and in total pinfall.
The Knights opened the day of Baker format matches with a 935-906 win over No. 10 Delaware State. Delaware State won game one of the match and game five, but the Knights 221 and 204 totals in games two and four proved to be enough.
Fairleigh Dickinson made it two straight wins with a 977-845 win over Norfolk State in match two. The lineup of

Morgan Brown (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford),
Karsyn Lukosius (Brick, N.J./Brick Township),
Melanie Hannon (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Maryvale) and
Nicolette Sarin (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township High School) won all five games against the Spartans. The high score coming in game three, 227.
A 1,011-773 win over Morgan State made it three victories to open the day for the Knights. The tallied a 245 in game two against the Bears and hit 201 and 212 also to earn the 238-pin win.
In game four, the Knights kept rolling with a 914-558 win over Coppin State. Fischer, Brown, Lukosius, Hannon and Sarin-with the help of
Natasha Ashby (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy)-rolled a 235 in game one. The Knights then won games two and five by 50-plus pins each.
The lone setback for the Knights on the day came against the No. 21 ranked Tulane Green Wave, 950-931. The Green Wave dropped game one to the Knights,but the next four-all decided by less than 20 pins.
The Knights got a win to end the day by beating Northeast Conference foe No. 14 LIU Brooklyn, 862-854. A 222 in game five against the Blackbirds capped the day for the Knights and for the lineup of Ashby, Hannon, Brown, Lukosius and Sarin.
Tomorrow, the bowling resumes at 8:25 a.m. with six traditional team games before bracket play starts on Sunday.
