Box Score SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team played Bryant to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon. The Knights (2-11-3, 0-4-2 NEC) and Bulldogs (3-7-5, 1-2-3 NEC) each scored a first period goal, but neither team was able to find the back of the net after the half.
The Knights tied the match in the 35
th minute of the first half as sophomore
Casey Abelein (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Earl L. Vandermeulen) scored off a crossing pass from freshman
Javen Palmer (London, England/Sedgehill).
Bryant had opened the scoring with Teddy Spanos scoring in the 16
th minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Matthew Weigner (Warrington, Pa/Central Bucks South) recorded seven saves in the match.
The Knights and Bulldogs both posted eight shots on goal in the match. Bryant held a 28-15 edge in shots and a 15-6 edge in corner kicks.
Ellison and Palmer led the attack for FDU. Ellison had three shots on goal and Palmer two.
The Knights will close out the regular season on Sunday, November 8 at Sacred Heart.
