No. 4 Women's Bowling Third; Lukosius and Sarin Named All-Tournament Team

Day 3 Bracket

NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The No. 4 Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team finished third at the FDU NJ Jamboree. Karsyn Lukosius (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after posting the highest scoring average (218.7) over the first two days of the tournament.

Nicolette Sarin (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township High School) joined Lukosius on the All-Tournament team. The senior was tied for third scoring average with a 213.5 clip.

The Knights had a bye in the first round of the championship bracket after earning the number two seed. Vanderbilt beat Maryland Eastern Shore to play the Knights in the semifinals.

In semifinals, the Vanderbilt came out strong winning the first games of the baker match. The Knights then bounced back with a 224-167 win in game number three. Vanderbilt got a win in game four but the Knights forced a game six with a 246-186 win in game five. In game six the Commodores prevailed 236-211 to advance to the championship match versus Arkansas State.

Vanderbilt went onto to beat the Red Wolves 4.5-1.5 to claim the tournament title.

The loss dropped the Knights to the third place game versus Delaware State—who lost to Arkansas State in the semifinals.

The Knights picked up a 216-204 win in game number one. Then in games two and three the Knights cruised with wins by 66 and 64 pins. Fairleigh Dickinson wrapped up the match in game four with a 164-123 win to secure the third place finish.

Up next for the Knights is a trip to Altoona, Pennsylvania for the first Northeast Conference meet of the season.

NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The No. 4 Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team advanced to the championship bracket after finishing second in the team per game average standings with a 205.6 clip.

Arkansas State is the number one seed heading into tomorrow's championship bracket play. Vanderbilt, Sam Houston State, Delaware State and Maryland Eastern Shore are the other four teams advancing to the six-team bracket.

Karsyn Lukosius (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) is the top individual in the field after the 10 traditional team matches completed on Saturday. The sophomore has averaged 218.7 pins per match so far. Nicolette Sarin (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township High School) is third overall with a 213.5 pin average. As a team, the Knights averaged 1,025 per game on Saturday over five games.

In the first match of the day Fairleigh Dickinson were beaten by No. 10 North Carolina A&T 998-926. It would turn out to be the Knights' only setback of the day. Morgan Brown (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) led the Knights with a 196. Three other bowlers scored in the 180s.

The Knights bounced back in match two of the day with a 1,080-890 win over No. 7 Wisconsin-Whitewater. Natasha Ashby (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) led the charge versus the Hawks with a 247. Sarin added a 234.

Fairleigh Dickinson made it two straight wins with a 1,073-912 win over No. 17 Delaware State. Lukosius posted her high score of the day in a 257. Freshman, Amy Caruso (Dayton, N.J./South Brunswick) had her best match of the two days with a 249 for the Knights.

A third straight win came via a 1,026-972 win over No. 9 McKendree. Ashby led the way once again for the Knights with a 236. Sarin knocked down 233 also.

In the 1fifth and final match of the day, Fairleigh Dickinson prevailed 1,018-956 over Howard. Sarin then tied Lukosius for the Knights' top score over the first two days with a 268. Melanie Hannon (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Maryvale) supplied a 213 and Lukosius added a 202.

As the number two seed, Fairleigh Dickinson earned a bye to the semifinals tomorrow. The Knights await the winner of the Vanderbilt and Maryland Eastern Shore match.

NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. – After the first day of the FDU NJ Jamboree, the Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team is 4-1 over the first five matches—traditional team games—and third overall average pins per game (206.3).

Karsyn Lukosius (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) led the Knights individually with a 229.6—second amongst all bowlers on day one—average over the first five games. The high mark for the sophomore came with a 268 in the final game versus Kutztown. Melanie Hannon (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Maryvale) was second on the Knights and 14th overall with a 207 average. Nicolette Sarin (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township High School) also in the top 20 with a 204.4 average.

The No. 4 Knights opened the day with a 1,107-928 win over No. 15 Valparaiso. Hannon was perfect through the first six frames and finished with a 266 to lead the way. Four Knights knocked down at 200 pins.

Fairleigh Dickinson moved to 2-0 with a 993-909 win over No. Stephen F. Austin. Sarin led the way with a 233. Morgan Brown (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) and Hannon logged a 213 and 200 respectively.

Game number three of the day saw the Knights get clipped by No. 2 Arkansas State 1,043-1010. The Red Wolves had four bowlers top 200, including a 243 and a 234. Sarin had her best score of the day with a 227. Amy Caruso (Dayton, N.J./South Brunswick) made her debut and posted an 187.

The Knights then squeaked past Franklin Pierce in game four, 971-967. Lukosius posted a 244, Caruso added a 211 and Rebecca Fischer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Northgate) knocked down 197 for the Knights.

In the last match of the day Fairleigh Dickinson prevailed over 1,076-869 over Kutztown. The Knights were paced by Lukosius' 268 and Fischer's 223.

Fairleigh Dickinson and the 26 other teams return to action tomorrow at 9 a.m. at Carolier Lanes for five more traditional team games.
