Box Score HACKENSACK, N.J. - Four first-half goals were more than enough for the Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team complete a perfect regular season at home. The Knights won all eight games at University Stadium. It is the first unbeaten and untied season in program history. The win also extends the Knights' win streak to eight games and keeps them in first place in the Northeast Conference standings.
The win also clinches a spot for the Knights in the NEC Tournament.
Fairleigh Dickinson (12-5, 6-0 NEC) scored the four goals over a span of 17 minutes of the first half.
"I felt that if we could get one goal early we could put [Bryant] under pressure", said head coach
Eric Teepe afterwards. "Bryant does a good job staying organized and compact on defense. By getting the first goal, it kind of forces them to come out and then we were able to find some open gaps."
Rachel Hoekstra (Bowmanville, Ontario/Clarington Central) scored her 11th and 12th goals of the season in the fifth and ninth minutes to give the Knights a 2-0 lead.
Kayla Adams (Ajax, Ontario/Pickering ) picked up her first point of the season with the assist. The two goals gives Hoesktra 26 points on the year and ties
Carly Tice (Highland Falls, N.Y./James I. O'Neill) for the team lead and program record for points in a season.
Jessi Reinhardt (Friedberg, Germany/Burggymansium) added to the Knight lead whenshe struck from 30 yards out.
Hanna Robertson (Eagle Mountain, Utah/West Lake) picked up her second assist of the season.
Amanda Goulet (Quebec City, Quebec/Shattuck-St. Mary's ) tacked on another with her first season when she put home a rebound off a shot from Tice. Goulet added another point as she assisted on Hoekstra's second goal of the game.
Bryant (4-10-2, 3-2-1 NEC) fired 15 shots on the night with nine finding their way on goal.
Felicia Burr (Bellingham, Mass./Blackstone-Millville), who started for the Knights, made four saves in her 70 minutes of action.
Deanna Persico (Aurora, Ontario/Cardinal Catholic) came on for the 19 minutes and made five saves to preserve the shutout.
Burr said afterwards, "The win tonight boosts our confidence going forward into the last weekend of the regular season".
Every Knight was able to see the field including all 11 graduating seniors, who played their final regular season game at University Stadium.
The Knights return to action on Friday, October 30 at Saint Francis U. Fairleigh Dickinson then wraps up the 2015 regular season at Robert Morris on Sunday, November 1.
