TWITTERHACKENSACK, N.J. – Winners of three straight Northeast Conference games, the Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team will look to continue that run this weekend when they travel to LIU Brooklyn on Friday and then host the Seahawks of Wagner on Sunday.
The Knights (9-5, 4-0 NEC) currently sit in second place in the NEC standings behind Saint Francis U, who is 4-0 so far in conference play. The Knights have won five straight games overall and have won six straight at University Stadium.
Fairleigh Dickinson is coming off a double overtime win over Central Connecticut on Sunday.
Kristina Neri (San Jose, Calif./Santa Teresa) scored with 37 seconds to play in the game off a give-and-go with
Elma Kolenovic (Manhattan, N.Y./NYC Lab) to get the Knights the 1-0 win. The goal was Neri's first of the season and first as a Knight.
LIU Brooklyn owns a 12-5 record against Fairleigh Dickinson all-time. The teams have split the four meetings, prior to that the Blackbirds had won eight straight in the series. Fairleigh Dickinson has not won in Brooklyn since 2013.
The Knights have had more success against the Seahawks, posting a 7-6-2 record all-time. The teams have played to draws in the last two meetings. Fairleigh Dickinson is 5-2-1 all-time against Wagner at University Stadium.
LIU Brooklyn (3-11, 0-4 NEC) has lost four straight to open conference play and overall. The last win for the Blackbirds was a 2-1 triumph at NJIT back on September 29. Marian Awad leads the Blackbirds in points with 10. Allegra Ondrejka and Awad each have four goals on the year to tie for the team lead.
Wagner (2-9-1, 1-1 NEC) hosts Robert Morris on Friday before traveling to Teaneck on Sunday. The Seahawks snapped a 0-7-1 stretch with a 2-1 win over LIU Brooklyn last time out. Megan Fritz leads the Seahawks in goals (5) and points (11). Peyton Beck is second on the team in goals with two.
The Knights own the highest RPI in the NEC at 89 in the latest weekly rankings that were released on Monday. Central Connecticut is next at 143.
Rachel Hoekstra (Bowmanville, Ontario/Clarington Central) and
Carly Tice (Highland Falls, N.Y./James I. O'Neill) are first and second in the NEC in points with 22 points and 21 points respectively. Hoekstra is T-35th and Tice is T-43rd in points in NCAA Division I.
Kolenovic is tied with Tice for the team lead in assists with five. Kolenovic and Tice are T-2nd in the NEC with those five assists each.
Felicia Burr (Bellingham, Mass./Blackstone-Millville) leads the NEC with five shutouts this season and is second in the NEC in goals against average with a 1.67 clip. Burr has given up just two goals in three games so far in NEC play, which is a 0.62 GAA.
Amanda Goulet (Quebec City, Quebec/Shattuck-St. Mary's ) has record two assists so far in conference play. She, Tice and Kolenovic each has two.
Esther Rochon (Saint Romuald, Quebec/College Francois-Xavier-Garneau) and Hoekstra have one so far in NEC play.
