TWITTERHACKENSACK, N.J. – The quest for a second consecutive Northeast Conference Regular Season Title begins on Friday when Mount St. Mary's visits University Stadium on Friday night.
The Knights enter conference play with a 6-5 record and have won two straight games. Fairleigh Dickinson will also look to set a program record with their fifth straight win at home. Last week the Knights also swept the NEC Weekly Awards with
Rachel Hoekstra (Bowmanville, Ontario/Clarington Central) earning Player of the Week,
Felicia Burr (Bellingham, Mass./Blackstone-Millville) was Defensive Player of the Week and
Elma Kolenovic (Manhattan, N.Y./NYC Lab) was named Rookie of the Week.
Fairleigh Dickinson owns a 9-5-1 record all-time against Mount St. Mary's. The nights have won the last two meetings and have scored three goals in each game (3-2 in 2013, 3-0 in 2014). The Mount has not won in Teaneck since 2011.
The Mountaineers come into NEC play with a 1-10 record on the season. They have lost three straight games since beating UMBC 3-0 back on September 13. Last season the Knights were able to earn the 3-0 road win in Emmitsburg. The Mount is led by freshman Jenna West with eight points (3g, 2a). Emma Blair and Nikki Pinto are second on the team with five points apiece.
Carly Tice (Highland Falls, N.Y./James I. O'Neill) leads the Knights and the NEC in scoring with 17 points (7g, 3a) on the season. The senior now has 16 career goals, which is fifth-most in program history. Her 42 career points also rank fifth all-time.
Hoekstra is second on Fairleigh Dickinson and in the NEC with 13 points (6g, 1a) in 2015. The redshirt-junior is two points away from being the first player in program history with 60 career points.
Patricia Seitz (Pfungstadt, Germany/Baden-Wurttemberg), Kolenovic and Tice are all tied for third in the NEC in assists with three on the season.
Burr is ranked fourth in the NEC in goals against average with a 1.97 clip. The senior is the only goalie in the NEC to log 1,000-plus minutes so far this season.
The game will be streamed weather permitting on NECfrontrow.com.
