Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team concluded the CU Inaira Classic on Sunday with a 2-0 loss to Cornell. With the victory, the Big Red improve to 4-2-1 on the season, while the Knights fall to 1-6-1 overall.
Cornell scored a pair of second half goals, with Chris St. Germain netting the first one nearly three minutes after halftime, and Conor Gopel finding the back of the net on a penalty kick in the 77th minute.
FDU was outshot in the match 8-6, with three coming on goal. Junior Lachland Bond, sophomore
Kevin Ramirez (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) and freshman
Casey Abelein (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Earl L. Vandermeulen) each had an attempt at the net.
Freshman
Matthew Weigner (Warrington, Pa/Central Bucks South) took the loss between the pipes and made one save, while Zach Zagorski recorded three saves for the Big Red.
The Knights return to action on Saturday, Sept. 27 when they host Drexel for a 7 p.m. contest at University Stadium.
