TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (6-11, 0-0 NEC) begins Northeast Conference play on Friday when it welcomes Sacred Heart (10-8, 0-0 NEC) to the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex for a four-game series beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. Saturday will feature a pair of seven-inning contests starting a 1 p.m., and the series will conclude Sunday at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Knights played their first game in nine days on Tuesday when they lost on the road to Army, 7-3. FDU threw nine different pitchers in the contest in order for everyone on the staff to receive some work on the bump. Offensively, the Knights managed only five hits, with freshman Zach Tondi (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Bergen County Technical) leading the way with a 2-for-4 effort.

What You Need To Know: Pitching is the name of the game for the Pioneers, who will come into the series with a sparkling team ERA of 2.84. Staff ace Kody Kerski leads the team with an unheard of 0.27 ERA while going 4-0 in five starts, with one complete game shutout. In 33.2 innings pitched, the junior has struck out 32, walked only six and has allowed just 17 hits. Most impressively, he has allowed only two runs (one earned). As a staff, Sacred Heart has only yielded 61 runs (48 earned) and 128 hit in 152.1 innings. Offensively, the Pioneers are hitting .249 and average 4.0 runs per game. Zack Short leads the team in hitting with a .359 average (23-for-64) and shares team high honors in runs with 12 while stealing six bases. Jayson Sullivan is the top power threat with two home runs and 11 RBI to go along with a .314 average (22-for-70), 12 runs and four doubles.
