Baseball and NJIT Playing Split DH Starting Saturday

TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (10-21) looks to build on its three-game winning streak starting Saturday when it begins a home-and-home four-game series with NJIT (12-17). The Knights and Highlanders will play a pair of seven-inning contests at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex beginning at 1 p.m., before the two sides travel to Newark, N.J. on Sunday to play the final two seven-inning games also starting at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out
FDU rallied from a 1-0 deficit before hanging on for a 4-3 victory over Iona on Wednesday at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. Junior Brendan Butler (W. Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) (2-4) earned the victory after yielding three earned runs on five hits in 6.2 innings while walking three and striking out four. Fellow classmate Eric Snyder (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) faced the minimum over the final 1.1 innings to record his fourth save of the season and the 20th of his career. Sophomores Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park) and Ryan Brennan (Mooresville, N.C./Mooresville) and freshman Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ) each had two hits to lead FDU's nine-hit performance, with Brennan and McCann each collecting a RBI.

What You Need To Know: The Highlanders and the Knights played once this season back on March 14, and FDU jumped out to an 8-0 lead after three innings before holding on for an 11-8 victory. Playing without a conference, NJIT has faced Northeast Conference foes LIU Brooklyn, Sacred Heart and Wagner this season, going a combined 2-7. Offensively, the Highlanders are hitting .255 as a team and average nearly 5.0 runs per game.
