QUEENS, N.Y. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team dropped a midweek contest against St. John's, 10-4, on Wednesday at Jack Kaiser Stadium. With the victory, the Red Storm improves to 4-10 on the season, while the Knights fall to 3-7 overall.
FDU pounded out 12 hits on the day, but its defense committed five errors. Junior

John Giakas (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) both collected three hits on the day, as the duo combined to go 6-for-9 with two runs and one RBI out of the third and fourth slots in the batting order. Junior

The Red Storm only scored in three innings, but they made their scoring frames count with four in the third, three in the fifth and three more in the seventh. FDU scored a run in the sixth when Brennan scored on a wild pitch, and three more in the ninth on Giakas' RBI single, Brennan's bases-loaded walk and sophomore

Joe Flack (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) (0-1) was charged with the loss after allowing seven runs, six earned, on eight hits in 4.1 innings of work. He walked four but did record four strikeouts. Sophomore
Ryan McGrath (Lansingburgh, N.Y./Lansingburgh) and junior
Eric Snyder (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) combined to throw 2.2 innings of scoreless relief in the contest, as the Knights used a total of four pitchers.
Five different players registered two hits for St. John's, who had 14 in the contest, while four different players collected two RBI.
The Red Storm also threw four different pitchers, with Matt Clancy picking up the victory after pitching 2.1 innings of relief in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
FDU will return to action on Friday, March 14 when it welcomes NJIT to the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex for a 3 p.m. contest. The Knights will then face Lehigh for single games on Saturday and Sunday at home, starting at 2 p.m. and 11 a.m.
