DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team dropped its 2014 season opener at Davison, 4-2, on Friday night at Wilson Field. With the victory, the Wildcats improve to 1-1 on the season, while the Knights start the season 0-1.
"I thought we did a lot more right than wrong, but our baseball IQ has to improve," Head Coach
Gary Puccio said. "For coming out of the gym, we played flawless defense."
Trailing 1-0 in the fifth, freshman
Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ) delivered a two-out-two-run single, scoring sophomore
Ryan Brennan (Mooresville, N.C./Mooresville) and freshman
Zach Tondi (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Bergen County Technical).
Davidson tied the game in the bottom of the fifth on Forrest Brandt's one-out RBI single. FDU starter

The Wildcats took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth on a wild pitch from Frati with no outs. Frati then buckled down to retire three of the final four batters he would face.
Davidson cashed in on its final run in the bottom of the eight on a two-out RBI single from Sam Foy.
The Knights only managed five hits on the night, with sophomore
