M. Basketball Looks to Snap Skid at Bryant on Thursday

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team (8-17, 4-7 NEC) heads back to the road on Thursday night when it takes on second-place Bryant (16-10, 8-3 NEC) in Northeast Conference action at Chace Athletic Center. Tipoff in Smithfield, R.I. is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on NEC Front Row.

Last Time Out
The Knights saw their losing streak reach five games after a furious rally over the final 90 seconds fell short in an 89-82 defeat to Saint Francis U on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Stratis Arena. FDU trailed by as many as 17 points in the second half before slicing the deficit to four with 30 ticks remaining on the clock.

Senior Sidney Sanders Jr. (Charleston, S.C./Burke) tallied his single-season record fifth 30-point game of the season after pouring in a game-high 31 points (22 in the second half) to go along with a game-high six assists. Junior Mustafaa Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) tied a career high with 21 points, with 16 coming after halftime, while connecting on 5-of-9 from behind the arc.

What You Need To Know: The Bulldogs are all alone in second place in the conference standings, with two of their losses coming to first-place Robert Morris and the third one coming last time out at third-place Wagner, 73-61, on Sunday. In the first matchup this season between FDU and Bryant, the Bulldogs shot a blistering 58.9 percent from the field, including 11-of-17 from downtown. Five players scored in double figures, with Corey Maynard leading the way with 30 points on 12-of-15 shooting; leading scorer Alex Francis added 22 points and seven rebounds; Dyami Starks (15 point), Curtis Oakley (13 points), Shane McLaughlin (10 points) rounded out the double-digit scoring.  Francis is averaging 20.1 points per game, second in the NEC to Sanders Jr. (20.8), but he is averaging 24.1 points per game in conference games. Francis pulls down a league-leading 9.5 rebounds per game in NEC games (7.3 overall) and shoots a league-best 63.5 percent from the field against conference foes.

FDU will return to Stratis Arena on Saturday, Feb. 22 to face last-place Sacred Heart for the first of three straight conference home games, with tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m. The Pioneers rallied in the second half to clip the Knights, 71-67, on Jan. 11 in Fairfield, Conn.
