Box Score

Piscataway, NJ – The FDU men's basketball team fell to 2-1 on the season with a 61-44 loss to Rutgers this evening in the Rutgers Athletic Center.  Rutgers improves to 1-1 on the year.

"We dug ourselves a very big hole tonight in the first half," said Head Coach Greg Herenda.  "I am very proud of our team's resilience tonight especially in the second half, but you cannot get down that big and expect to win.  All in all, we just won two of our first three games in six days.  I am very excited about the group's potential."

Trailing by 21 points (37-16) at the half, the Knights opened the second half on a 12-3 run and cut the deficit to as low as 7 points (47-40) with 4:30 to play in the game before the Scarlet Knights posted a 14-4 run to secure the victory.

FDU was led by senior guard Mustafaa Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) who finished the night with 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the floor and 3-of-8 from behind the arc. Graduate student Darius Stokes (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) chipped in eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.

FDU struggled through the first half shooting only .176 from the floor (6-for-34), but rallied in the second half to outscore Rutgers 28-24 in the second stanza on .462 shooting from the floor (12-for-26).

FDU will return to action on Tuesday, November 25th as the Knights continue their road swing at Columbia. Tipoff from Manhattan is scheduled for 7 p.m. A live radio broadcast will be found on FDUKnights.com
